Genmaicha
Genmaicha (玄米茶) is a traditional Japanese tea made by blending green tea with toasted rice. The classic style uses a roughly 1:1 ratio of bancha to rice, resulting in lower caffeine than sencha or most other green teas. It is also known as “brown rice tea” or “popcorn tea” because of the popped rice kernels.
This Genmaicha is crafted for green tea purists. It combines high-grade early spring first-flush sencha with carefully toasted rice to deliver a refined, nutty character.
Unlike standard genmaicha, where the rice often dominates, this version keeps a distinctly green and vegetal profile. The premium sencha stays at the centre, bringing depth, freshness, and balance alongside the warm toasted grain.
